James Collier, a School of Communications PhD candidate, was on April 6 presented a Graduate Associate Teaching Award--the university's highest recognition of exceptional teaching provided by graduate students--by Scott Herness, associate dean of the Graduate School (pictured with Collier at left).
Nominations for the award are solicited from students, peers, faculty and staff, and the honor is bestowed upon up to 10 recipients by a committee of undergraduate honors students, Council of Graduate Students representatives, previous GATA winners and faculty Distinguished Teaching Award winners.
Collier, whose research focuses on media psychology and motivated cognition, received $1,500, and he will be recognized at the annual Graduate School awards reception.
